I don’t have a name for this. I’m sure other people make a version of this dish. In my house, we call it “that egg thing that dad makes.” Bread and Egg Casserole makes more sense.
Ingredients for today’s dish:
8 Eggs
1 ½ cup of heavy cream
Squared loaf of French bread
Minced garlic
Chopped Bacon
Munster cheese
Spinach
Salt and Pepper
The ingredients can vary. I usually toss in whatever I think will go well in the fridge. I have used chopped brussels sprouts, broccoli, collard greens, and kale. Spinach is my favorite vegetable to add. I can also interchange the meat ingredient. I usually cube a ham steak. I’ve also used Italian sausage, breakfast sausage, and ground turkey. You can add whatever cheese you like best.
For the bread, I often use whatever is about to go stale. For today’s dish, I stopped by the local bakery and picked up a French loaf. Recently, we had a bunch of dinner roles left over after a party. I cut those in half and used them in the casserole.
I eyeball the mixture regarding how many ingredients to use.

Directions:
Set the oven to 375 degrees.
Beat the eggs.
Add minced garlic, salt, and pepper and mix.
Cut the bread into cubes.
Cook and chop bacon.
Add bread to the mixture and mix.
Mix in shredded cheese.
Pour into a baking dish.
Sprinkle cheese on top.
Sprinkle chopped bacon on top.
Cook for 45 minutes.
Enjoy.
This is one of my go-to meals whenever I have a bunch of things that need to be eaten up before they go bad. It’s also one of my favorite dishes to make when I’ve got a busy day. The mixture can be made ahead of time and placed in the fridge. Mixing everything together takes under 10 minutes. It’s definitely a “fix it and forget it” type of meal. All the major food groups are represented. It can also be a great breakfast when using breakfast sausage.
