Manhattan Recipe

One of my favorite cocktails to order at a bar is a Manhattan. It’s also an easy drink to make at home.

Ingredients:
2 ounces of rye whiskey.
1 ounce of sweet vermouth.
1 dash of angostura bitters
I dash of orange bitters
Cherry or lemon peel

This is drink is best served chilled, so before you begin making your drink, put your glass in the refrigerator.

Steps:

  1. Place 2 or 3 ice cubes in a mixing glass.
  2. Stir.
  3. Strain into your chilled glass.
  4. Garnish with a cherry or lemon peel.
  5. Squeeze a lemon wedge into the drink.
  6. Enjoy.

Here are suggestions:

Change up your recipe every time you make a new drink and that will give you an idea of what you like best. For me, I’m not a fan of vermouth, so I don’t want a sweet drink. I didn’t for this recipe, but I usually only add 3/4 of an ounce of vermouth. Most bars add 2 or 3 dashes of angostura bitters. For my preference, I add one dash of angostura and one dash of orange bitters. Play around with your bitters and see which fancies your palate.

I demonstrate in the TikTok video below how to make a Manhattan. It’s hard to do in 60 seconds, but you’ll get the idea of how to make it.
