Old Fashioned Cocktail Recipe

My favorite cocktail to sip in a dimly lit bar is an Old Fashioned. Most bourbon fans go-to cocktail is the Old Fashioned because it’s pretty much bourbon on the rocks with a few added ingredients. The cocktail is easy to make and requires little skill.

Ingredients:
Bourbon – 2 ounces
Simple Syrup or sugar – 1 tsp
Splash of Water
Large ice cube
Angostura bitters – 2 dashes
Orange peel or cherry

Directions:

  1. Pour sugar into a rocks glass and add simple syrup and bitters and then muddle (or stir).
  2. Place the large ice cube on top of the sugar mixture.
  3. Pour bourbon over the ice and stir.
  4. Add garnish.

Notes:

If the bourbon taste is too strong, drop it down to 1 1/2 ounces.

You’ll need to mix longer than I did in the video. The reason I mixed it for a short time was that I had to get the drink mixed under 60 seconds. This is a drink you should take your time to mix.

Simple syrup is the best ingredient for sweetness, but sugar is a good substitute. Simple syrup isn’t something most people have on their shelf.

This is not a drink to down quickly, so take your time and enjoy a great conversation while you sip.
