My Best Meatloaf Recipe

Meatloaf ingredients
2 Pounds of hamburger meat
2 ounces of Ketchup
1 ounce of bar-b-q sauce
1 ½ teaspoon of onion powder or finely chopped onion
½ cup of milk
2 eggs (beat eggs before adding)
2 tbsp. of minced garlic
1 ½ teaspoon of Italian seasonings
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup of crushed Ritz crackers
Salt and pepper to taste

Meatloaf glaze ingredients
I cup ketchup
2 TBS brown sugar
1 tsp of garlic salt
½ tsp of pepper
1 tsp of onion powder
1 tsp of white vinegar

  • Other options for glaze: Finally chop up an onion and fry with chopped up bacon. Top off the glaze with the mixture.
  • Replace 1 cup of ketchup with ½ cup of ketchup and ½ cup of BBQ sauce.

I use a 11” X 4 ½ nonstick “bread pan. Most bread pans will do fine.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Mix the meatloaf ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. (Beat eggs by themselves first).
Cook for 40 minutes.
In a small mixing bowl, mix glaze ingredients.
After 40 minutes of cooking time, spread glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
Cook for an additional 20 minutes.
When the meatloaf is done, remove from oven and let sit for 8 to 10 minutes.

My meatloaf is one of my family’s favorite meals. With 4 kids, it’s hard to find a meal that everyone loves equally. This recipe accomplishes that. I also love that it’s a whip together meal and forget about it. While it’s cooking, I can get some other things done.

Sides I like to make with it: mashed potatoes, sweet potato chippers, asparagus, side salad, honey glazed carrots, homemade bread, dumplings, fried potatoes, rice pilaf. Pretty much anything goes with meatloaf.
