Spoiler alert: If you haven’t seen Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, don’t read this.
When we first see Rey in Star Wars Rise of Skywalker, she is floating in the air and says, “Be with me.” During this scene, she is pursuing her Jedi training with Leia. Since this a spoiler-filled article, you know she doesn’t complete the training. Much like Luke, her final lessons were not traditional.
Later on, in the movie, Rey calls upon the Force to be with her once again and the Jedi of the past answer. Also, the plural form of “Jedi” is “Jedi.” Okay, let’s stop saying “Jedis.” Great, let’s move on.

It took a few times of seeing the movie and consulting what sides I could find on the internet to figure out who was voicing what. I plucked out most of them while watching the film and practically jumped out of my seat when one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters Ahsoka Tano spoke to Rey. Since she spoke to Rey and is a Force Ghost, that means she’s dead. There goes our hope for seeing her in other things.
Here are the Jedi in order of who spoke to Rey and what they said.
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Sir Alex Guinness and Ewan McGregor.
“These are your final steps, Rey. Rise and take them… Rey… Rise.”
Most of the line is delivered by McGregor, with Rey’s name being spoken by Guinness. Obi-Wan, or Ben Kenobi if you prefer the hermit stage, was a mentor to both Anakin and Luke and begins the call for Rey to finish what the Jedi started.
2. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen)
“Rey… Bring back the balance, Rey, as I did… The Force surrounds you, Rey… Let it lift you.”
I think Anakin is getting a little ahead of himself here, because did he bring balance? Did he really? I argue no. But that’s beside the point. The point is he is encouraging Rey in the scene to fight.
3. Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein)
“Rey.”
Ahsoka Tano is first seen in Star Wars The Clone Wars, an animated series and she later surfaces in Star Wars Rebels, another animated series. My family and I loved the character and we’re hoping she would show up somehow in Rise of Skywalker and being the first female voice heard, I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard her voice. I quickly looked at my son to see if he noticed. He didn’t.
4. Kanan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze, Jr.)
“Rey… In the heart of a Jedi lies their strength.”
Jarrus is also in the animated show Star Wars Rebels and mentors a young Jedi throughout the show. I won’t spoil the show, but it doesn’t matter your age, you will be caught up in Jarrus’ story.
5. Luminara Unduli (Olivia D’Abo)
“The light. Find the light, Rey.”
Luminara is one of the Jedi killed during Order 66 in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. She is played by Mary Oyaya in Attack of the Clones and by Fay David in Revenge of the Sith. D’Abo played the character during the Clone Wars animated show and where her character was fleshed out.
6. Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson)
“Every Jedi who ever lived, lives in you… We stand behind you, Rey… Rise.”
Qui-Gon is Obi-Wan’s master during The Phantom Menace and ultimately loses his life in a duel with Darth Maul. Even though the character only appears in one film and in a few episodes of Clone Wars, Neeson leaves a big mark on the cannon and a Jedi fan favorite.
7. Aayla Secura (Voiced by Jennifer Hale)
“Let it guide you.”
Secura shows up in Attack of the Clones and her death is tragic in Revenge of the Sith where the Clone Troopers turn on her after Order 66. In the movies, she is played by Amy Allen, but Jennifer Hale took on the role for Clone Wars.
8. Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson)
“Feel the Force flowing through you, Rey.”
The only Jedi with a purple lightsaber, Mace Windu appeared as part of the Jedi Council in The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. He also appeared in The Clone Wars. He was constantly at odds with Anakin during Episode I, II, and III and it’s nice they’re back on the same side to encourage Rey as Force Ghosts. Also, there goes the hope that Windu survived being thrown off a very tall building by Anakin.
9. Adi Gallia (Angelique Perrin)
“Rise, Rey.”
Gallia is part of the Jedi Counsel in Episode I and Episode II and is played by Gin Clarke. In the Clone Wars, she is voiced by Angelique Perrin and is killed by Darth Maul.
10. Yoda (Frank Oz)
“Rise in the Force, Rey.”
The wisest Jedi of the group and one of the greatest characters of all-time with the most iconic voice of the group, Yoda steps in to give Rey the extra push to rise up to face Emperor Palpatine.
11. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)
“Rey, the Force will be with you. Always.”
Luke is the final voice and lets Rey know; the Jedi are with her and will not leave her alone as she fights their final battle to bring balance.

Now that you know who the voices are and who they belong to, go and watch the Clone Wars and Rebels if you are not familiar. You will be glad you did.
