
Here’s how you make simple syrup:
To make it, use equal parts sugar and water. For instance, if you want to a cup of simple syrup, add one cup of water to a saucepan and cook over medium heat. Add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Once dissolved, remove from the burner and set aside. Once the syrup cools, add it to a container. Don’t add while it’s hot or it might break the glass.
Keep simple syrup stored in the refrigerator and keep it for about 30 days.
Simple syrup also tastes great in iced coffee.
A fun thing to do is play around with flavored simple syrup. Try adding orange peels, vanilla, or some of your other favorite flavors.
