Moving Sucks: Leave It to Someone Else

Disclaimer: I have partnered with Bluebell Relocation Services for this review. The unfortunate memories of moving from one house to another are all my own.

Between the time I was 4-years-old and 18-years-old, my family moved thirteen times. Two of those times were across the country. I won’t get into why we had to move so many times, but it was hard on all of us. Just when we became comfortable in our home, we had to pack up and move. With each move, things broke and we left toys behind.

In some houses, my sister and I (who is four years older than me), had to share a bedroom. It was harder on her to have a little brother around than it was for me to have a big sister. For those houses that we had to share a bedroom, we hung a curtain in between our beds, giving us some sense of privacy. Again, more for her benefit than mine.

Moving was also hard on my mom. Each home needed to be set up and be decorated, which fell upon her shoulders. New kitchens appliances and to be figured out and a new house had to be organized. Knowing how hard it is for me to organize groceries after a trip to Costco, I can’t imagine how hard it was for her to box and unbox a new home over and over again. Besides orchestrating a move, she was sad to leave old friends and had the anxiety of having to make new friends.

Many years later, my wife and I made a big move from Ohio to New York City. We had a huge yard sale and sold most of our belongings and then packed up a truck.  I decided to not replay my childhood and put down roots in the Big Apple. Like most young couples, our two grew to three and if you follow my blog, you know we grew our numbers even more. We outgrew our tiny NY apartment and headed to a house that we purchased. My days of jumping from one house to another are over.

Looking back at my life, I wish my family had used Bluebell Relocation Services. With each move, tension rose within my family. Arguments occurred, words that you can’t take back were spoken, and feelings were hurt. Those things happen to a lot of families during a move. I don’t know too many people who had an easy-going moving experience.

Many moving companies just pick up your boxes and carry them to and from a truck. Bluebell will come to your home, box up your belongings, and transport them. For anyone that has been in my shoes, how does that sound? Do you wish you had a moving company that takes care of everything? For your free quote, click here.

When we moved across the country (The second time), we used a moving company that was referred to us by a friend. They came to our home and carried our belongings into a truck. At one point, a man was carrying my mother’s fine china that was passed down from her grandmother. The man tossed the box upon his shoulder despite the words written in large black letters, “FRAGILE CHINA.” He took a few steps outside and dropped the box, shattering my mother’s precious china. The expression on my mother’s face was heart-breaking. Without a word, the guy grabbed the box, hoisted it back upon his shoulder, and slid the box into the truck. That memory caused me to love this quote from Bluebell, “We believe that when it comes to art and antique moving, you can never be too careful. That’s why we take the time to meticulously wrap and load your valuables to keep them safe and secure while in transit.” Don’t take your friend’s word, use these reviews.

Moving is stressful for everyone. There are millions of thoughts and emotions within each individual who is moving. Kids are sad about leaving a home behind and might not be too thrilled about the house they are moving into. Parents are anxious about their decision.  Add packing and moving onto those feelings, and there’s an emotional disaster waiting next to each box. Don’t bring that added stress into your new home. Let Bluebell Relocation Services take care of the hard part while you focus on your feelings and your family. Come to think of it, maybe Bluebell has the easier part.
