How the DIYZ App Turned Me Into a Handyman and Helped Me Install a Faucet

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by the DIYZ® app. All opinions are 100% mine.

My wife grew up in a household with parents who taught their kids to be jacks-of-all-trades. My wife’s father was a man of many talents, and he was also a minister. He often worked in small churches where funds were limited, which meant he had to fix things himself and get creative with the limited supplies he had on hand. Instead of flying through these projects alone, he used those moments as an opportunity to teach his kids about fixing and building things. This instruction is why my wife has become a woman of many talents.

I, on the other hand, grew up not knowing how to fix anything. So when something breaks around the house or needs fixing, my wife is usually the one to tackle the challenge. It’s not that I don’t want to be handy, but when I put things together, they are lopsided or leak, or I discover a concerning number of screws left over.

For people like me, help has arrived. There is a new mobile app, called the DIYZ app, which stands for “Do it yourself. Do it wise” and it helps walk potential handymen and handywomen through a project. For example, I needed to replace our kitchen sink’s faucet and after a quick search on the app, found a project called “How to Replace a Kitchen Faucet.” The app told me the difficulty level (intermediate), noted it would take 2-3 hours and would not cost me an arm and a leg!

Once I clicked into the project and read through the directions, I was able to follow the segmented videos, which was an immense help in working through the project. I was able to replace the faucet pretty quickly, (I guess I may have picked up some of my wife’s skills!) For projects that you may need a little extra help on, you can video-chat with a Pro Advisor for free! Another feature of the app that I love is that it even suggests the right tools and materials for every job, which can then be purchased directly in the app via Amazon.

I was able to easily replace my kitchen faucet with the help of the DIYZ app!

Here is a suggestion: walk around your house and make a list of things that need to be fixed. Then, search through the DIYZ app, learn how to fix them, and then, actually fix them. While you are fixing things, don’t forget to invite your children to join you.

If you get stuck on a project, don’t forget you can chat with an experienced Pro Advisor via phone or video-chat. Users can chat with DIYZ Pro Advisors from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM ET Monday through Friday or on weekends, DIYZ advisors are available from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM ET.

Download the DIYZ app now. It’s free from both the Apple App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android. Once the app is downloaded you can get more project and DIY ideas.
