My kids and I watched Madame Webb in a 4D theater and we enjoyed the experience. The movie, not as much. If you’re going to see a movie that isn’t very good, then watching it in a 4D theater helps.
Madame Webb, played by Dakota Johnson and also stars Sydney Sweeney, is about a woman who gets her super powers later on in life after having a near death experience. Turns out, a super spider bit her mom before giving birth in Peru. It’s already a stretch even for super hero movies. Once she gets the power to see the future, she tries to help 3 teens who are trying to escape a deadly foe.

Madame Webb is receiving horrible reviews and rightfully so. It’s a stinker. I knew it was going to be bad by the previews, but my kids wanted to see the movie and so I took them. My expectations were so low and I think that may have helped be to enjoy the movie more. After the movie was over, my kids asked me what I thought. I responded, “It felt like the writer’s got bored half-way through and gave up and just wanted to finish the film. If the superhero genre is going to die, it’s movies like this will kill it.
Is Madame Webb appropriate for kids? Parents know what their kids can handle and probably make up their minds before ever seeing the movie. Anyway, here’s how it fares.
Langauge: There’ are a few curse words. Not too much, but similar to other Spider-Man movies.
Sex: There is one brief scene that stops before sex happens and then the couple wake up in the bed. A woman is wearing a bra.
Scary Images: People die and some of them die after being poisoned, which is a little gruesome.
Violence: Similar to other Marvel films; crashes, chase scenes, fighting, and death.
If your kids watch other Spider-Man movies, then they should be fine with Madame Webb.
