It was 7:15, and the movie started at 8:00. My toddler was not ready to fall asleep. The sitter was ready, but I felt terrible for leaving my daughter behind. I read 2 stories, sang a song, and we prayed. That usually does the trick and she drifts off to dreamland. On this night, she was wide awake and wanted more time with her daddy. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the movie theater and I like to arrive early to grab a good seat. Time was ticking away.
I gave one last kiss and hug and backed out of the room with my daughter crying behind the door. Feeling like a bad dad, I shepherded the rest of the family out the door and into the car. My daughter was in good care with a sitter in case something bad were to happen, but I felt guilty. At every stoplight, I wondered if I should turn back around.
When we got to the theater, I pulled out my phone and opened the Safety 1st app, which connects to my Safety 1st WiFi baby monitor. Weight poured off my shoulders as I looked at my sleeping toddler. A blanket gripped in one hand and a stuffed animal in another, she was peacefully still allowing me to relax and enjoy the movie. I stepped out once when my phone was alerted that a noise happened in the room, but the replay was nothing more than a cute little sound. And yes, I saved the cute little sound.
We’ve had a few monitors over the past 14 years, but never a video monitor and not one we could check on an app from our smartphone. This is a game changer for us and one I wished we had 14 years ago when we had our first baby. Now, I’ll be able to hang out by the fire pit at night while keeping an eye on my daughter’s room. My summer nights got a lot easier.
More Great Things About the Monitor:
