Chances are, if you are a Christian, you have a book by Max Lucado in your house. For those that do not know who he is, Lucado is a popular pastor and author who has written a variety of books – from children’s picture books to books for adults that are dealing with hurt. Dad Time is Lucado’s first book specifically for fathers.
The book is comprised mostly of snippets from his vast collection of writings. The chapters are short and you can blindly pick any chapter and discover great advice or a story to pull on your heart. I recommend reading it from cover to cover, but because of its layout, it also makes a good end table book or a bathroom book.
Topics covered in the book include being content, grace, making mistakes, and of course, child rearing. After reading the book, I was reminded of how precious my children are, not just to me, but also to God. The weight of that responsibility is heavy, but not burdensome (another good reminder in the book). If you have a Christian father in your life, this book would be a great gift.
