High on many kids’ gift wish list is the Skylanders Trap Team video game. And if it is isn’t high on a list, it should be.
I love the Skylanders franchise, which focuses on fun and quirky fantasy creatures. The latest Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack consists the game, Skylanders figures, and a Traptanium portal. Placing the figures on the portal brings them to life in the game. Like the other Skylander games, gameplay is pretty simple. It doesn’t take a true gamer to be able to make it through the game. The game is also challenging enough that it should take kids more than a few days to finish it (assuming you don’t let them play it incessantly for days on end). And when it is conquered, there are mini games that can be played.
My kids and I have a lot of fun switching out different characters by placing a new figure on the Traptanium Portal. And an added bonus to Trap Team is being able to capture bad guys and then play as that character. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play as a cannon wielding sheep?
My 10 year old son and I are having a great time making our way through the story and battling the Doom Raiders. My 8 year old daughter also likes to sit and watch the game being played. She doesn’t like to play herself much, but she laughs at all the strange characters.
Skylanders will be a big hit at Christmastime and if you have a compatible gaming system, kids of all ages will love this game. There is fighting in the game, but the violence is cartoonish. I think 8 and up is fine for this game.
Price: $54.99 – $74.99
Disclosure: I was provided a Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack for my review, but the opinions are my own.
Definitely on my boys Christmas list. House full of Skylanders fans!
