Potato Soup Rules! A King (Me) Discuses his Kingdom and Food

Recently, a group of dads were put to the challenge: prove we are King Of Soup and that dining at our home is the equivalent of a fine steakhouse. In fact, if you search for the hashtag #KingOfSoup, you will find dad bloggers promoting why they should be crowned King Of Soup. One wears fancy clothes while lounging around, as a child plays a violin. Another’s home is transformed into a steakhouse and all looks serene from the pictures. Well hardy, har, har, my fellow dad bloggers, but I’m the real King of Soup.

 Here’s why…

My home is exactly like a steakhouse. I was once a manager of a steakhouse (well, it was a restaurant that served steaks). I eat at a lot of steakhouses. I know steakhouses. You sirs do not know real steakhouses. In a steakhouse, there’s a lot of yelling in the kitchen, glasses fall and break, and people bump into one another. It is complete and total chaos. You do not want to go into the kitchen. It’s about as stressful environment as you can imagine. And not only does that describe a steakhouse, it exactly describes my house at 6:00 p.m. on a weeknight.

But I don’t want that in my kitchen. I want my kitchen to be an oasis of peace, where food is made quickly and without stress. I have 4 kids; there’s enough stress in my life.

 Here’s what I want…

Delicious, filling food that’s prepared easily, quickly, and tastes good. And bonus if it’s something I could order off steakhouse menu. Is that too much to ask for? It isn’t. Idahoan® Premium Steakhouse® Potato Soups has released great quality soups that make a tasty addition to any meal (steak or not) or a meal by itself. The soup cooks in 5 minutes, which means no customers (kids) are complaining, “when is supper ready?”

Family meals are important to us. During the week, we have a narrow window of time for meals, between practices, my wife’s work schedule, and varying bed times. So speed is of the essence. Idahoan Steakhouse® provides me with the ability to put a meal together in no time that my family finds filling and delicious.

So laugh at my competitors stories and like their tweets and Instagram photos. The truth is running a steakhouse kitchen is hard work. But making your soup taste like it was from a steakhouse is not.

And on a side note: Idahoan® Premium Steakhouse® Potato Soup comes in 4 varieties (Creamy Potato, Loaded Potato, Cheddar Broccoli and Three Cheese Chipotle). I took all four of them on a family ski vacation and they were a big hit after a day spent freezing on the slopes. And because the soup is thick and creamy, our bellies were full and happy.

I have partnered with Life of Dad and Idahoan® Foods for this campaign, but my opinions are my own.
