I was a kid when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared years ago. (That’s TMNT for the cool folks.) So, I was very excited when Nickelodeon rebooted the series; now my kids could enjoy them as well. And, of course, there are plenty of product tie-ins for TMNT fans, including toys and gadgets.
Lego always puts out great products and so it is no surprise that the TMNT Legos are fantastic. Here are my top 5 TMNT Lego sets:
The Turtle Lair Attack is a large 3 story set that resembles the turtles’ home. Within the home is a dojo, pizza oven, lounge, and skate ramp. As with all Lego sets, kids will have a lot of fun putting it together. But since it is an interactive set, they will enjoy playing with the set in a variety of ways once assembled.
And as if the Turtles’ Lair wasn’t enough, the set also include Shredder and a portion of his own lair. Kids can aim a catapult from the Turtle’s lair to Shredder’s and begin their attack after an intense day of training.
The set also comes with 6 characters.
Price: $49.99
Pieces: 488
Ages: 6-12
Of course the Turtles need to get around town in a vehicle that can take care of business. The Shellraiser fits that need. Putting the van together takes a little dexterity, but once completed, kids will enjoy playing with it. And the best part is, if it participates in a crash, it simply snaps back together.
The set also includes Dogpound’s imitation pizza van, complete with toxic cans.
5 figures are also included in this set.
Price: $59.99
Pieces: 619
Ages: 7-14
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and robots; do I need to say anything else? In this set, the Turtles fight the robot Baxter, who has captured their friend April. Baxter’s claw can be fired off at the Turtles as they attempt to save their friend. A miniature helicopter and go-cart comes with this set.
The set comes with 5 characters.
Price: $39.99
Pieces: 397
Ages: 6-12
Chase Fishface through the sewers on the Turtles’ Tri-wheel Stealth Shell and launch missiles at his sewer skimmer. The skimmer can launch canisters back the at tri-wheel. Some of the pieces might frustrate littler fingers, but it will be worth it in the end.
The set comes with 3 characters
Price: $19.99
Pieces: 162
Ages: 6-12
Every bad guy needs a cool ride and Shredder has one. The bike looks great and kids will have as much fun playing around with the motorcycle as they do with the larger cars, if not more. Lego flames that rise up from the tailpipes provide some extra bad guy detail.
The set also come with 3 characters and a supped up skateboard.
Price: $24.99
Pieces: 198
Ages: 6-12
* The company provided a sample of the product for my review, but I was not compensated and the opinions are my own.
