Is Deadpool and Wolverine Appropriate For Kids

Is Deadpool and Wolverine appropriate for kids? Quick answer, no, at least not my younger kids. But as I usually say, parents know best what’s acceptable to their kids.

If you’re tempted to take your kids to see the new Deadpool movie, you’ve probably already decided if you want to take them. You might think the now Disney owned Marvel franchise might take it down a notch. If you thought that, you’d be wrong. I think the blood, violence, gore, and foul language might even be worse than the previous two Deadpool films. I even felt a little awkward sitting next to my 18-year-old daughter during a couple of innuendos.

In this third installment in the Deadpool series, fans finally get their long-awaited Deadpool and Wolverine team up. Many of us comic book fans don’t count that one time. This film hits all the wanted buttons. I definitely nerded out throughout the movie. A lot has been speculated about the cameos that occur in the movie and I guarantee everyone who loves watching superhero movies will be extremely thrilled about the various character pop-ups. At one point, I cheered unabashedly like a little child.

There were some kids in the theaters with their parents. During the movie, I saw a dad leave with two of his kids and never to return. There’s a lot going on in the movie. If you’ve seen the first two movies, you know what you’re getting into. Here’s how this movie compares.

Cursing: You could probably take all the curse words in every single superhero movie and they would not equal the amount of bad words in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Nudity: There’s none. The one R rated thing not in this movie.

Sexual innuendos: A lot. Similiar to the first two.

Violence: The violence is graphic and gratuitous. If there were no swearing, the movie would still earn an R rating for the violence. So many people get stabbed in every area of their body, as well as gun shots, heads rolling, and… well, you get the idea.

Scary Images: Most of the scary images result from the violence.

In my opinion, Deadpool and Wolverine is for comic book kids who grew up, but still love all things superheros. I have not let my younger kids (12 & 9) see any of the Deadpool movies. They’ll wait till later on like my older kids.

Deadpool and Wolverine is rated R for strong bloody violence, language throughout, gore and sexual references. And it’s heavy on all of it.
