- 25% of public-school teachers surveyed, spend their own money to help students launder their clothing.
- 72% of teachers surveyed believe students that wear unclean clothes are likely to have fewer friends.
- 3 in 5 teachers said their students are likely to experience mental health and behavior problems because of wearing unclean clothes to school.
- 78% of teachers said students who wear unclean clothes to school are likely to be bullied.
But Whirlpool is helping to solve this problem with its Care Counts program. - In 2017, participating high-risk students increased their attendance by an average of nearly 10 days during the program.
- In 2018, 2 in 3 participating elementary students at high risk for chronic absenteeism increased their grades during the program.
- In the past 5 years, whirlpool has assisted 38,000 kids in 82 schools with the opportunity to launder their clothes at school.
