Lee Shorts: Styling While Parenting

Why is a dad blogger that provides tips and stories and writes reviews about toys, books, and entertainment writing about shorts? Because I was asked, that’s why, and it made perfect sense to me.

You see, when you’re a stay-at-home parent, you can be pretty comfortable going out into the world looking like a slob. We’re tired and our clothes go through hell. My clothes are stained from rubbing against the stroller as I carry it up flights of NYC subway stairs. There is a path along the right leg of almost every pair of jeans and shorts that I own.

At-home parents no longer care about impressing anyone, so we lazily throw on yesterday’s clothing or whatever is on top in the drawer. I used to take a lot of pride in how I looked and over the past couple of years I’ve been challenged (mainly by wife) to recapture my old stylish self. This was why I accepted the opportunity to review the Lee shorts.

I picked the Bermuda Short and the Wyoming Short, which are similar to my style. Both are comfortable, which is highly important for at-home parents.  We can go from standing around and talking to a sprint in a matter of seconds, and your bottoms have to go with you.  And because the shorts look nice, I’m not embarrassed to be out in public. Nor is anyone embarrassed to be out in public with me. Like other Lee clothing products, they are known for being tough and I haven’t had issues with the clothing turning to rags as I perform my daily dad duties, including heaving the stroller up subway stairs.

I’ve ditched my old rags and I’m shaving on a regular basis, and the funny thing is, I’m starting to see myself in a new (and better) light.  Clothes don’t make the man, but stepping out of the sweat pants and college t-shirts does wonders for self-esteem.
