Here’s what to expect:
The Last Jedi is like The Force Awakens in that there is a lot of action, many people die and has tense situations throughout the movie. This film does not have the dark tone Rogue One had, but more people die in Last Jedi than Force Awakens. There are few graphic deaths and Snoke might creep out younger kids.
Violence: There are mass deaths, but no blood. Some people die close up. It’s a Star Wars movie, so expect gunfights, lightsaber duels, explosions, and space warfare.
Scary images: There is more Snoke in this movie and his face and voice might scare younger viewers.
Cursing: I counted one word.
Sex: None.
Final Thoughts:
I will probably let my 5-year-old see this movie, but I acknowledge not all 5-year-olds should. As with my other movie reviews, parents know their children the best and what they can handle. If they were fine with the two more recent films and enjoy the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy movies, they will enjoy this movie.
The Last Jedi is rated PG-13 for “Sci-Fi action violence.”
Lastly, I enjoyed the movie, but not as much as I loved The Force Awakens. I’ll see it again with my kids and will buy it when it is released on DVD. There were several humorous moments that helped break up the action scenes and the introduction of new characters helped make the film feel fresh.
