The New Culture Pass Provides NYC Library Card Holders the Ability to Visit 30 Organizations for Free

My favorite thing about living in New York City is I can travel the world in a day simply by walking around the city. Museums, parks, and historical locations offer residents opportunities to drift away to new places or travel through the City’s past. One problem though, living in New York City is expensive and visiting a museum might take a big blow to the pocketbook. With the new Culture Pass, anyone with a NYC library card can receive a free ticket to visit one of thirty participating organizations. Getting an available pass is easy. It took me 3 minutes to sign up for a pass to visit the Sculpture Center in Queens.

There are some catches:

  • You can’t make two visits to the same location in a year’s time.
  • Once you view and print your pass, you’re stuck with it. You can’t cancel your visit after viewing the pass.
  • Only 2 active passes can be on one library card.
  • There are limited passes for each museum. Passes are released two months in advance on the first of every month.
