Occasionally, a superhero film knocks it out of the cinematic park. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. One, Black Panther, and Avengers: Endgame. I could easily give you a list in order of my top 20 Marvel movies. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Real would not make that list. That being said, I enjoyed the movie and I’m glad I watched it in the theater.
A lot more reviews will come out and trash Quantum Realm. I’m sure social media will blow up complaining about the movie. It won’t stop the newest Ant-Man flick from making a ton of money and entertaining kids and comic book fans.
The effects were fantastic, and it plays more like a sci-fi movie than a superhero movie. Most of the movie takes place in the Quantum Realm and is flashy and exciting. Strange new characters are introduced and Paul Rudd brings a lot of humor to the film. I like the movie and enjoyed it, but of course, I enjoy almost all Marvel movies.
Let’s get into why you are probably reading this: Is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Realm appropriate for kids?
I took my 11-year-old to see the movie, and he had no issues. I will not take my 7-year-old and wait for it to come out on Disney Plus to let her see it. Like all the other Marvel movies, there is a lot of fighting and many life forms die. There are some scary images and there’s more cursing in this movie than most of the other Marvel films.
Here’s a breakdown:
Action: A lot of fighting and dying. If they’ve seen Endgame or Guardians of the Galaxy movies, they should be fine with this one.
Sex: None, but there are a couple of innuendos.
Cursing: Similar to the Guardians’ movies.
Scary Images: Some. Again, similar to the Guardians.
If you have a sensitive viewer, you might want to wait. The battle scenes can be intense, but I think most of my 11-year-old’s friends will see it and not have any issues.
Now to wait for the rest of Phase 5.
