Every summer since I became a dad, I have taken advantage of Regal Cinema’s Summer Movie Express. For the price of one dollar a person, you can sit inside an air-conditioned building. It doesn’t matter to me what movie is playing as long as I can soak in a few minutes of cool air on someone else’s electric bill.
The movie theaters do a great job at making the experience easy on parents too. The sound isn’t as loud as normal and they keep the lights dim in some areas of the theater. If you’re expecting a nice quiet morning at the movies, you’d better stay home. The audience is full of kids talking, babies crying, and parents yelling, “Get back here!” My family fits right in.
Dates are not shown on the website because the Summer Movie Express usually begins the week after local schools are let out. For instance, Week 1 begins June 30th in NYC.
If you are looking for ways to cool off or keep your kids from bugging you about boredom, click here to see if there is a participating Regal Cinema near you.
