Another day at sea had come to an end. Well, an end if you are an adult. My wife and I were ready to fall asleep after a day of snorkeling, going down waterslides, and many other activities we found on board the Disney Magic. One of the great things about sailing on board the Disney Magic is that fun does not stop until the kids do. Which means my two oldest kids were still running around the ship at midnight.
Earlier in the day, I promised I would shoot baskets with my 10-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the basketball court, there were already a bunch of people playing. My daughter was a little upset, so I promised her we would play later in the day. Well, I had forgotten my promise and the day encountered a variety of activities to take up our time.
Can you guess what happened?
As the clock ticked a little past midnight, the door burst open with my daughter panting, “You ready?” Remembering my words from earlier in the day, I put my shoes on and walked to the courts hand in hand with my little girl.
We had the courts to ourselves. A few people were playing ping pong and a movie on a large screen near the pool played Toy Story as we shot baskets. First, we played horse and then a game of one on one. I’m not sure how long we played; probably not too long. But the memory will last forever.
After our game we stopped by the pizza stand and ate a couple of slices. Yes, I realize how it sounds to say that I played midnight basketball with my daughter and then ate pizza. It sounds awesome.
We had such a great time that my oldest son suggested he and I play the next night. And so we did.
