As a parent, I get incredibly annoyed at how toys are marketed towards girls. All too often, dolls are too thin or wear inappropriate clothing for the age to which they are marketed. I had the chance to talk to Jodi Norgaard, creator of Go Go Sports Girls, about that issue while at the NYC Toy Fair. It was great to see her line of dolls that not only were dressed appropriately for a child to play with, but also had a great message of setting big goals and striving to achieve them.
Since I’m a soccer dad, I chose Cassie for my 6 year old daughter. It was a wise choice and I only hope more toy companies follow Ms. Norgaard’s example to provide girls with inspiring and age-appropriate toys.
Rating on a 1 to 10 scale: 8
These soft dolls promote exercise, a healthy body image, and are still fun to play with.
